Luke Francis Beirne was born in Ireland in 1995 and now lives on Wolastoqey land in Saint John, New Brunswick.

His first novel, Foxhunt, was published by Baraka Books in 2022. His second novel, Blacklion, was published in September 2023. It was selected by CBC as one of the novels to read in 2023 and was shortlisted by the Writer’s Federation of New Brunswick for the 2023 Best Novel Award. His stories, essays, and reviews have appeared in outlets such as Counterpunch, NB Media Co-op, ZNet, The Commoner, Hamilton Arts & Letters, Honest Ulsterman, and CrimeReads.

In 2017, Beirne was awarded the David Adams Richards Prize for Prose at St. Thomas University. Foxhunt was a finalist for the 2022 Foreword INDIES award in General Fiction and was selected as one of The Miramichi Reader’s best novels of 2022. His novels have been stylistically compared to Greene, Forsyth, Hemingway and le Carre.

Beirne has a BA in English Language & Literature from St. Thomas University and an MA in Cultural Studies & Critical Theory from McMaster University.
